Start with the work window
Most institutional masonry scopes are shaped by when crews can be in the space, not by the wall itself. Fixing the work window early makes every other decision simpler.
Note any hard constraints: academic calendars, service times, apparatus response routes, tenant hours.
Define separation and protection
Decide how crews, materials and debris move through the building, and where the public cannot go.
Dust control, floor protection and temporary partitions belong in the scope conversation, not the punch list.
Confirm the existing assembly
Match requirements for brick, block, glazed tile or glass block should be reviewed on site before pricing.
Where matching is not achievable, agree the approach with the owner in advance.
